Prisoners has fled a correctional facility in Oyo State after a heavy gun men attack.

About hundred prisoners have reportedly found their way out of the prison after the group of armed men stormed the prison.

An Oyo state resident has opened up on the incident revealing the men orchestrated their attack on the prison at about 10pm on Friday evening.

He stated that the prison entrance was accessible after the armed men blew it up with explosives.

Spokesman for the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) in the state, Olanrewaju Anjorin, confirmed the incident.

“It has been confirmed that the attack occurred”. The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) comptroller and other top officers are currently assessing the situation.

“However, I can confirm that the incident occurred.”

The country is plagued by widespread insecurity, and the government has been working hard to bring the situation under control.

It is unclear who is responsible for the attack, which occurred just hours after the Federal Government linked self-proclaimed activist Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, to Boko Haram sponsors.
