In response to the backlash, Portable released a video in which he apologised and sought forgiveness from both God and the preacher.
He explained that his actions stemmed from a misunderstanding, believing the preacher had come to cause him spiritual harm.
Portable attributed this suspicion to past personal experiences where a similar approach was used to harm his sister.
The singer expressed regret, saying, “I didn’t know he was a genuine man of God. If I knew I wouldn’t have slapped him. I’m human, I’m not perfect.”
He also appealed to his fans and the public, emphasising that he, too, is a child of God and that his actions were not reflective of his true character.
Portable’s apology comes amid increased scrutiny of his public behaviour, with many hoping this incident will lead to more cautious actions in the future.
