Meghan MArkle has dashed back to Canada after a fleeting visit to the UK where the Duchess and Prince Harry made to shock announcement that they were stepping down as senior members of the Royal Family.
Meghan has flown back to Canada to be with their son Archie as Prince Harry deals with the fallout from their resignation announcement. Meghan Markle’s dash comes the Queen has ordered a crisis meeting between all four royal households – Clarence House (Prince Charles and Camilla), Kensington (Kate and Prince William), the Sussexes (Meghan and Harry) and Buckingham Palace – try to resolve the situation.
Sources told the Daily Mail Meghan “hadn’t planned” to remain in the UK for long and Archie had been left in the care of his nanny in Canada.
Meghan and Harry returned to the UK and conducting a private visit to The Hubb Kitchen in west London on Tuesday before an official visit to Canada House where the pair thanked the High Commissioner for the hospitality they had received during their six-week break in the country.
It is understood Meghan, who called Canada home while filming the US hit TV series Suits before she met Prince Harry, is expected to stay there for the foreseeable future.
On Wednesday evening the Duke and Duchess made the bombshell announcement they would be stepping down from their roles as senior royals and would seek to become “financially independent”.
The couple also launched their new website SussexRoyal.com which detailed some of their future plans.
As this all unfolded it emerged the Queen and other members of the Royal Family had not been conducted before Meghan and Harry made their announcement, according to insiders.
On Thursday the Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William directed their teams to find “workable solutions” with Meghan and Harry.
Buckingham Palace said: “The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duke of Cambridge have directed their teams to work together at pace with Governments and The Sussex Household to find workable solutions. Expected to take days not weeks.”
It is understood the “governments” referenced are the UK, USA and Canada.
New information suggests Meghan and Harry began trademarking around 100 items for their Sussex brand six months ago.
The UK’s Intellectual Property Office (IPO) website shows “Sussex Royal” has applied to have its trademark on printed matter, clothing and footwear as well as promotional and “public awareness campaigns”.
By protecting their trademark, Meghan and Harry will be able to take action if anyone tries to use their Sussex Royal brand on unapproved products.
