Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello

Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello, a revered Islamic scholar, has passed away at 84. His impactful teachings and legacy will be deeply missed.

 

 

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Islamic world is mourning the loss of a prominent scholar and preacher, Sheikh Alhaji Muyideen Ajani Bello, who passed away in the early hours of Friday, December 6, 2024, at the age of 84.

The announcement of his passing came from Alfa Aribidesi of At-Tawdeeh Islamic Da’awah and was confirmed by Sheikh Almudeer Ajiginni, an Ibadan-based cleric, who paid tribute on social media.

“Today is one of my saddest days! My father and mentor has returned to his Creator… May Allah be pleased with your soul,” wrote Sheikh Akewugbagold Taofeek in an emotional tribute.

Others, including notable Islamic singer Alhaji Basit Olarenwaju (Aponle Anabi), expressed their sorrow, sharing memories and prayers for the late cleric.

 

About Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello

Born in 1940 into the family of Alhaji Bello Ajani and Alhaja Ubaidat Bello in Arolu Compound, Ita Olukoyi, Ibadan, Sheikh Muyideen’s life was devoted to Islamic teachings and propagation.

 

Education and Early Life

He began his educational journey at I.D.C. Primary School and attended secondary school in Elekuro, Ibadan.

He pursued Arabic and Islamic studies at Mahdul Arabiy, Elekuro, from 1963 to 1967, which laid the foundation for his lifelong dedication to spreading the message of Islam.

 

Career and Contributions

Sheikh Muyideen began preaching at the age of 10 and quickly became known for his fearless Quranic teachings and inspiring sermons.

His work took him beyond his home city of Ibadan to various parts of Nigeria, including Oyo, Ogun, and Kano States, where he served as a teacher and the Missioner for the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria.

 

Global Influence

The respected cleric’s teachings extended far beyond Nigeria, as he was invited to preach in the United Kingdom, the United States, and several African countries.

His sermons emphasised peace, devotion, and the pursuit of knowledge, earning him a global following.

 

Legacy

Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to Islamic propagation, his eloquence in Quranic interpretation, and his dedication to uplifting communities through faith and education.

As tributes pour in, the Muslim community continues to reflect on his life and legacy, praying for Allah’s mercy on his soul.
