Benjamin Šeško’s late goal earns Manchester United a 1–1 draw against West Ham after Tomáš Souček’s opener in a dramatic Premier League clash

Manchester United forward Benjamin Šeško delivered a dramatic Šeško late goal deep into stoppage time to secure a 1–1 draw against West Ham United at the London Stadium on Tuesday night.

With defeat looming, Šeško struck in the sixth minute of added time, drilling a first-time finish from the edge of the box into the top corner to snatch a point for United and silence the home crowd.

West Ham had appeared on course for a valuable home win after Tomáš Souček put the hosts ahead in the 50th minute.

Souček reacted quickest inside the area to convert a low finish following a perfectly weighted through ball from Jarrod Bowen, punishing a momentary defensive lapse.

Souček’s opener energised West Ham, who grew in confidence and continued to threaten United’s defence.

Bowen’s movement and passing caused problems throughout, while substitute Callum Wilson tested United’s back line late on, only to be flagged offside as the hosts pressed for a second goal.

United dominated possession for long periods but struggled to find a cutting edge. Bruno Fernandes orchestrated play from midfield and came close with a lofted delivery that nearly met Joshua Zirkzee, while a powerful effort from Bryan Mbeumo was blocked as United sought an equaliser.

United briefly thought they had levelled midway through the second half when Casemiro found the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR review, leaving the visitors frustrated.

As seven minutes of added time ticked away, United committed numbers forward in search of a late breakthrough.

Their persistence paid dividends when the ball broke kindly for Šeško on the edge of the area, allowing him to strike with precision beyond West Ham goalkeeper Mads Hermansen.

Šeško’s dramatic intervention denied West Ham a morale-boosting victory and underscored Manchester United’s resilience on a night when they were second best for long periods.
