Shade Ladipo mocks Toke Makinwa after a viral video with Aremo Oniru sparks reactions at Tiwa Savage’s event

Former Nigerian on-air personality Shade Ladipo has publicly reacted to a viral video involving media personality Toke Makinwa and businessman Aremo Oniru, offering a pointed commentary that has fuelled online debate.

The video, recorded at the launch of a music foundation by singer Tiwa Savage, showed Makinwa and Oniru seated in conversation when an unidentified woman approached and greeted the businessman with a peck.

Makinwa’s reaction in the clip, widely described as a “naughty look”, quickly drew attention across social media platforms.

Responding to the footage, Ladipo delivered a sharp critique, suggesting that social dynamics around wealth and influence often shift expectations. In a candid remark, she said “the hustle is real”, adding that individuals tend to seek proximity to affluence regardless of status.

Ladipo further implied that the businessman’s wealth naturally attracts widespread attention, describing the situation as “weird”.

The commentary has since sparked mixed reactions, with some viewers interpreting Ladipo’s remarks as humorous, while others viewed them as a subtle jab at Makinwa’s public persona.

The viral moment adds to ongoing public interest in Makinwa’s personal life and views on relationships.

The media personality has recently addressed speculation surrounding her child’s father, clarifying that he is not Muslim and explaining that her daughter’s name, Yakira, is of Hebrew origin, meaning “beloved” and “precious”.

In previous public statements, Makinwa has spoken openly about marriage and personal growth. During a podcast appearance last year, she indicated a willingness to remarry, even as a second, third, or fourth wife, a comment that generated widespread discussion.

Makinwa was previously married to fitness expert Maje Ayinde, with the marriage ending in 2016 after two years amid allegations of infidelity.

Reflecting on the experience, she has said she faced intense public scrutiny despite being the affected party.

She has also addressed criticism about her relationship status, maintaining that she remains optimistic about marriage while urging against judgement.

In one response to online criticism, she expressed confidence that her personal journey would ultimately lead to fulfilment.
