A man identified simply as Osemudiamen has made a shocking confession to security operatives in Edo State, admitting that he killed his sister’s baby while under the influence of alcohol and a hard substance.

The footage, posted on X by the anti-cultism advocacy platform Naija Confra, shows the suspect acknowledging that he had been severely intoxicated at the time of the attack.
He said the substance, known locally as colos, was given to him by an acquaintance named Fredrick, whom he encountered smoking shortly before the incident.
During interrogation, Osemudiamen further disclosed that he is a member of the Aye confraternity, stating that he had intended to renounce his membership before the killing occurred.
He added that he had contacted a lawyer for legal assistance but could not afford the required fees.
Efforts to reach the Edo State Police Command spokesperson, Eno Ikoede, were unsuccessful on Wednesday, as calls to her phone went unanswered and a text message sent to her had not been returned at the time of filing this report.
The case has emerged amid heightened concern over increasing crimes linked to hard drug use among young people in the state.
In 2022, The Nigerian Lawyer reported that 21-year-old Michael Arigbabuwo died during a birthday party after allegedly mixing two hard drugs for a stronger effect, underscoring the dangers of unregulated substance abuse.

Osemudiamen’s confession has renewed public alarm over the destructive impact of drugs and the violent behaviour they can trigger, prompting fresh calls for stronger community intervention and preventive education.
