A Special Adviser on Education in Lagos State, Barr. Tokunbo Wahab, has made known his decision to bring smiles in the faces of parents and students as the novel coronavirus pandemic bites harder leading to economic depression in the world.
It is no gain-saying that the state has been at the forefront of education advancement in Nigeria and most of these achievements could be traced to concerted efforts of the commissioner of Education and special adviser through the leadership of the governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Recall that the state recently granted a N500million scholarship to indigenes among other lofty innovativeness being witnessed in the education ministry.
A disciplined lawyer and an established philanthropist before his appointment, Freelanews gathered that Wahab has offered to buy school bags and sandals to help get the Nigerian children back into the classes as a private citizen.
A close associate of his, Akanni Oladimeji Balogun, while tagging the soft-spoken SA, shared the good news on his Facebook wall. He wrote:
“You see ehn, that Corona Virus lockdown and other naija wahala has affected parents that many could not afford nice bags and sandals for their children. It is not because they don’t want to, but because of the economic challenges that is now facing us all.
If you know of any such child ANYWHERE in Nigeria, send me their details. Mr. Tokunbo Wahab wants to assist them.”
An alumnus of the prestigious Harvard Kennedy School of Government and the Wharton University of Pennsylvania, TW, as he’s fondly called, believes everyone deserves equal opportunities, regardless of class and status.
