‘Terrible!’ Police investigate as man kills self, wife in Bayelsa (Photo)

A middle-aged man, Patrick Markson, has reportedly killed his wife, Hannah, with a hammer in Bayelsa State.

Markson, a native of Onopa, Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state, took his own life by ingesting a poisonous substance suspected to be Sniper after killing his spouse.

The incident happened at Odede Street, off Tombia-Amassoma Road, Yenagoa.

Police spokesman, Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident.

He said operatives of the command had evacuated the couple’s bodies from their residence.

He stated: “Preliminary investigation revealed that one Patrick Markson, 46 years, a native of Onopa, Yenagoa, attacked and killed his wife, Hannah Markson with a hammer. Thereafter, he drank a poisonous substance suspected to be Sniper which led to his death.

“Photographs of the scene were taken. The hammer and bottle of the Sniper were recovered as exhibits. Investigation is ongoing.”
