In a viral video, Nigerians had come down hard on some officers of the Nigeria Police Force on the way a suspect’s girlfriend was interrogated.

The video clips, which surfaced online recently, had been tagged sexist and calls went too loud for the force to prosecute the officers involved.

According to information available to Freelanews, a suspected armed robber and kidnapper was arrested in his home. This act could have been seen as the regular police on duty. However, what seemed to have turned the officers’ success sour was the additional arrest made.

The officers also apprehended a lady who was alleged to be the accused’s girlfriend.

The ensuing illegal interrogation of the lady, whose name was believed to be Omobolanle and a graduate of University of Ibadan, was obviously embarrassing and this got Nigerians calling for the heads of the officers involved.

In a swift reaction, the Nigerian Police Force had stated that the Inspector General of the Police was already aware of the case and assured Nigerians that the case would be properly looked into and the officers punished.

“The Inspector General of Police has ordered discreet investigations into the circumstances surrounding the dehumanizing treatment meted out to a female citizen in the above viral video.

“The IGP, while condemning the act, has directed the commencement of comprehensive investigations aimed at unraveling the true identity of the perpetrators with a view to bringing them to justice.

“Members of the public are hereby assured that any member of the Force found culpable in the incident will be made to face appropriate sanctions,| the statement read.

Both statements were still generating reactions as at the time of publishing and emotions were running high as Nigerians sought to ensure that the officers involved were brought to book.
