The Niger State Police Command has apprehended three individuals on charges of thuggery and illegal possession of prohibited firearms. Commissioner of Police, Mr. Shawulu Dan-Mamman, revealed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna, disclosing that the suspects were nabbed in Maitumbi, Minna, with dangerous weapons and suspected Indian hemp.
The arrests, which occurred around 1:00 a.m. on April 30, resulted from a raid conducted in the Corpers lodge area. The operation, spearheaded by the DPO of Maitumbi Division in collaboration with vigilance members, was prompted by a distress call regarding suspicious activities in the vicinity.
Upon receiving the distress call, a patrol team comprising members of Operation Flush and local vigilantes swiftly responded to the scene, successfully apprehending the suspects. Commissioner Dan-Mamman emphasized that the individuals were notorious for engaging in thuggery and instigating fear among residents through the use of dangerous weapons.
The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further interrogation, while efforts are underway to apprehend other accomplices who remain at large.
Dan-Mamman urged parents and guardians to exercise vigilance over their wards, advising them to dissuade involvement in criminal activities that could lead to legal repercussions.
