President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after spending about four weeks abroad on what the Presidency described as a working vacation.

Tinubu arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Tuesday evening from Paris, France, where he spent the latter part of his extended stay.

The President had left Nigeria on August 30 for London before travelling to Paris. His vacation was initially expected to last three weeks but was later extended by several days.

Speaking to journalists after his arrival, Tinubu said he was healthy and ready to resume his duties, while dismissing rumours that had circulated during his absence.

“Rumours will always emanate from politics. But the fact remains, I’m here, healthy, sound and ready to go,” the President said.

Tinubu also said he enjoyed his time abroad and insisted there was nothing wrong with him.

His prolonged absence had generated public and political discussion, particularly after the extension of his stay and his absence from the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, where Vice-President Kashim Shettima represented Nigeria.

The Presidency had maintained that Tinubu remained in contact with officials in Nigeria and continued to direct government affairs while abroad.
