RCN AI-generated lesson plans to launch October 6, delivering contextualised, simulated content for Nigerian classrooms

TRCN AI-generated lesson plans will soon become a reality for Nigerian schools as the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria partners with GMIND AI to deliver contextualised and simulated lesson content nationwide.

TRCN Registrar, Dr. Ronke Soyombo, announced the initiative in Abuja on Wednesday during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with GMIND AI.

She described the project as a game-changer for lesson preparation and teaching quality.

The AI-powered platform, set to launch on October 6, will create lesson plans that reflect Nigerian culture, history, and realities integrating global topics like the Victorians with local heritage such as the Ife and Benin Kingdoms.

“We want AI-generated lesson plans that are contextualised for our children,” Soyombo said. “Every lesson will also be simulated, because 21st-century learners need to see and experience concepts for learning to be profound.”

The system will cater to teachers of varying ICT skills, offering two resource categories: interactive AI-generated plans with simulations for digitally skilled teachers, and prescriptive, ready-to-use plans for those with limited ICT experience.

Lessons will be differentiated for gifted, average, and less able learners, with an emphasis on practical, hands-on activities. Nationwide training in all six geopolitical zones will ensure teachers can adopt the system effectively.

Soyombo added that the resource bank will cover all subjects, be accessible online and offline, and include multilingual video guides when TRCN’s new website goes live on August 25.

“This is teachers supporting teachers,” she noted, explaining that outstanding educators would help design the prescriptive lesson plans to ensure inclusivity and quality.
