Lagos-based Estate Manager, John Obong, 39, has been arrested by the Police at the Ikoyi Division, Lagos, and charged before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court for allegedly obtaining N1.3m from accommodation seeker, Chika Obi under false pretense.

Police alleged that Obong connived with an accomplice now at large and collected the N1,300,000 from the complainant with a promise to provide a self-contain apartment for him in Ikoyi, Lagos but that he failed to provide the apartment for the complainant and instead allegedly converted the money to his use.

Police further alleged that following the incident, the complainant reported the matter to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of Ikoyi Division, CSP Tijani Mustapha N’abba who directed his team led by Inspector Tope Ijatuyi to arrest the defendant.

Obong, a resident of 4, Bankole Road, Ikoyi, Lagos from Akwa Ibom State was charged before the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretense.

Police Counsel, Reuben Solomon told the court in the charge marked P/03/2022 that the defendant committed the offence on 26 January 2022 at 25, Olori Mojisola Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.
