The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, DSVA Lagos, has strongly criticized Seyi Awolowo, a prominent public figure and reality TV star, for a controversial statement he made regarding his sons.
The agency expressed concern over the disrespectful nature of his comment, emphasizing the need for responsible conduct and respect towards women.
Speaking during one of the sessions in the ongoing BBNaija show, Awolowo stated that his sons will be fucking people’s daughters.
The statement has sparked widespread outrage, with many individuals and organizations condemning the remark as crude and derogatory towards women.
In response to the controversy, the DSVA Lagos has issued a stern statement emphasizing the importance of fostering a culture of respect and gender equality.
The agency stressed that such derogatory remarks not only perpetuate harmful stereotypes but also contribute to a toxic environment that encourages gender-based violence and discrimination.
“We strongly condemn the comments made by Seyi Awolowo in the disturbing video that has surfaced. Such remarks perpetuate harmful attitudes and contribute to a culture of violence and abuse.
“The bystanders’ passive response in the video is also deeply concerning because it only enables such behavior to persist. It is important for us all to actively speak up in circumstances such as this.
“We remain committed to addressing issues of domestic and sexual violence. Call our 24/7 Toll-Free Line at – 08000 333 333 to make a report and access support.
“Together, we can work towards creating a society that truly values consent and is free from violence,” the statement read.
