Rasheed Kashamu, a member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Ijebu North I State Constituency, has described Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as the most prepared candidate to succeed Governor Dapo Abiodun in the 2027 governorship election.
Kashamu, in a statement released on Tuesday, said Ogun State requires a leader with proven experience, legislative knowledge, financial expertise and a strong commitment to improving the lives of residents.
The lawmaker said Yayi Named Best Successor based on what he described as Adeola’s decades of public service and record of legislative achievements at state and national levels.
“The next governor of the state must be a leader whose credentials are built on years of proven public service, sound legislative experience, financial expertise and a demonstrable commitment to improving the lives of the people,” Kashamu said.
He highlighted Adeola’s political journey, noting that the senator’s experience from the Ogun State House of Assembly to the House of Representatives and later the Senate had prepared him for executive leadership.
“Adeola’s journey from the House of Assembly to the House of Representatives and subsequently the Senate reflects years of consistent leadership and dedication to nation-building,” he added.
Kashamu argued that voters should assess candidates based on their records rather than campaign promises, saying competence and performance would be key considerations ahead of the 2027 election.
The lawmaker also pointed to Adeola’s professional background as a chartered accountant, describing it as an advantage for promoting accountability and effective management of public resources.
According to Kashamu, Adeola’s representation of Ogun West Senatorial District has produced interventions in areas including infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth empowerment and community development.
He said Ogun’s strategic economic position required a governor capable of attracting investment, strengthening institutions and sustaining economic growth.
“Our state needs a governor who understands policy, appreciates the importance of accountability and possesses the experience to attract investments, strengthen institutions and sustain economic growth,” Kashamu said.
Kashamu also praised the reported choice of Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun as deputy governorship candidate, describing the combination as a balance of administrative experience and grassroots engagement.
He said the proposed ticket could focus on industrial expansion, education, healthcare improvement, agricultural development and youth empowerment if elected.
The endorsement comes as political activities continue to build ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship race, with aspirants and political stakeholders beginning to position themselves for the contest.

While Kashamu expressed confidence in Adeola’s capacity, other political actors and voters are expected to weigh competing candidates and policy proposals as the election approaches.
