All hands on deck as governments, brands and private individuals rush to curtail the spread of Coronavirus, which according to the World Health Organisation, WHO, is spreading like wild fire.
In a recent report of March 28, 2020 by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, the total confirmed cases of the infection has jumped to 89, with just three patients discharged and one death recorded.
NaijaHottestGist, a WhatsApp group boasting of creme de la Creme in Nigeria and beyond, as an act of benevolence, donated free sanitisers to Nigerians, using Lagos as pilot.
According to the founder of the group, a celebrity journalist, Seun Oloketuyi, the noble idea was suggested by a member and other members eagerly keyed into it.
“This is just one of the many things we planned to do in curtailing the spread of virus and also making life easier for Nigerians in our own little way as they stay indoors.

“The idea was suggested in the group while we brainstormed on the way forward for the nation as it battles the novel virus and we all keyed in unanimously. The result is what we just witnessed today,” he said.
While giving out the sanitisers, the team lead in charge of the outreach in Alimosho axis of Lagos State, Akanni Oladimeji Balogun (AOB), told Freelanews that it was one of the ways to complement government’s effort at battling the virus and also encourage them to do more.
“As you can see that governments are trying to ensure that the virus is checked, it is our belief that gestures like this will encourage the government to do more when it sees the efforts the citizens are also putting in”, AOB said
Akanni, who spoke on appropriate use of sanitisers, advised members of public to also try ensuring that the virus doesn’t spread through them.
“Coronavirus is real, and I would implore us to always wash our hands regularly, use sanitisers, keep social distance and most importantly pray to God to keep us all safe,” he said.
The markets visited today were Egbeda market and Baruwa market in Alimosho Local government. Other team leads will be visiting other markets in coming weeks.
