In a move towards maintaining a peaceful and environmentally sustainable urban landscape, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resource in Lagos State, Tokunbo Wahab, has announced the sealing of various religious and entertainment establishments due to noise pollution and other environmental infractions.

The enforcement team of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (@LasepaOfficial) conducted a thorough investigation and subsequently sealed several establishments that were found to be in violation of the state’s environmental regulations.

Commissioner Wahab emphasized the government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for all residents and ensuring compliance with established standards.

The sealed religious places include the Ifelodun Mosque, Children of God Healings Deliverance and Adoration Ministry, City of Testimony Church, Cherubim & Seraphim (Ayo ni), and Station of Relief Christ Ministry. These religious institutions were identified as contributors to excessive noise pollution that disrupted the peace and well-being of the surrounding communities.

In addition to the religious establishments, several entertainment venues faced closure due to environmental infractions. Euphoria Night Club, Mainland Leisure View Hotel, House 46 Hotel and Suites, Selino Hotel, Lady B Gold Bar, Da-Villa Hotel, Perch Hotel & Suites, and Avro Supermarket were among the establishments affected.

The commissioner stressed that these actions were necessary to maintain the balance between economic activities and the quality of life for residents.

Wahab highlighted the importance of adherence to environmental regulations, stating, “Our commitment is to create a sustainable and habitable environment for all Lagosians. We will not tolerate any form of environmental degradation, and the sealing of these establishments is a step towards ensuring the well-being of our citizens.”

While urging business owners and religious leaders to prioritize the well-being of the community and to take immediate corrective measures to address any identified violations, the commissioner stated that the enforcement team will continue monitoring and evaluating establishments across the state to ensure ongoing compliance with noise pollution and environmental standards.
