In a remarkable achievement highlighting its commitment to excellence and safety, the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) proudly announces the receipt of the prestigious International Organization for Standardization Certificate (ISO 9001: 2015) for Quality Management System.

This recognition underscores LASWA’s dedication to upholding world-class standards in maritime operations and safety within the region.

The International Organization for Standardization Certificate testifies to LASWA’s unwavering pursuit of excellence in managing and regulating water transportation across Lagos State’s inland waterways. This certification, awarded by a reputable international body, validates LASWA’s adherence to rigorous standards and best practices in maritime operations, safety protocols, and environmental sustainability.

Speaking at a mini event organised by the West Sealand International – WSI and LASWA for the ISO Certificate Presentation, on Wednesday 20th of March 2024. the Commissioner for Transport, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, commended LASWA Management for upholding international safety standards in the Lagos Water Transport Sector.

He noted that this is in line with the THEME’s Plus Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Adminstration in Lagos State.

The General Manager of LASWA, Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, expressed his profound appreciation for this milestone achievement, stating, “Receiving the International Organization for Standardization Certificate is a testament to our relentless efforts in ensuring the safety and efficiency of water transportation in Lagos State. This recognition reaffirms our commitment to upholding global standards and continuously improving our services for the benefit of the people of Lagos.”

In his own address, the CEO of WSI, Opeyemi Bashorun, noted that the ISO certification underscores LASWA’s commitment to excellence and adherence to international standards in its operations.

This accolade further solidifies Lagos State’s position as a maritime safety and transportation management leader, setting a benchmark for other regions to emulate.

LASWA’s dedication to excellence enhances the safety and reliability of water transportation and contributes significantly to Lagos State’s socio-economic development by facilitating the efficient movement of goods and people.

In addition to the International Organization for Standardization Certificate, LASWA remains committed to pursuing further advancements in technology, infrastructure, and regulatory frameworks to ensure sustainable growth and development of the inland waterways sector in Lagos State.

As Lagos State continues to evolve as a hub of commerce, culture, and innovation, LASWA’s achievement underscores its pivotal role in fostering safe, efficient, and sustainable water transportation systems that contribute to its citizens’ overall prosperity and well-being.
