Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) conducted a sting operation on Monday, May 20, resulting in the arrest of 127 individuals who refused to use pedestrian bridges across the state. Confirming the operation, Lagos State’s Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, emphasized the government’s commitment to enforcing pedestrian safety regulations.
During the operation, 26 suspects were apprehended in the Oshodi area for terrorizing pedestrians by refusing to use pedestrian bridges. Additionally, KAI operatives detained two miscreants, 31 street traders, and 68 other individuals found violating pedestrian safety protocols.
Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab underscored the significance of pedestrian bridges in ensuring the safety of citizens navigating busy thoroughfares. He stated, “During a sting operation conducted by the operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) at about 1500hrs today, a total of 3 ladies and 23 boys terrorizing people using the pedestrian bridge at Oshodi were arrested.” He further noted, “Also, 2 miscreants, 31 street traders, and 68 individuals were arrested during the morning operation across the state for not using the pedestrian bridges.”
