Bet9ja Foundation, through the efforts of Bet9ja Super Agent 0563, has officially commissioned a public borehole project at the Alajede’s Palace in Ijede Land, Ikorodu.
The project, coordinated by Mayowa Salawu, aims to provide clean and accessible water to the local community.

The commissioning event took place on Friday, June 21, 2024, at the historic Alajede’s Palace. Chief Babatunde Aliyu Ogunmuyiwa, the Odofin of Alajede of Ijede Land, attended and praised the initiative for its positive impact on the community’s health and well-being.

Mayowa Salawu, the facilitator of the project, highlighted the broader initiatives Bet9ja engages in, including sports and empowerment. In his speech, Salawu said, “This is not our maiden project in Ijede. We have held football tournaments that have unearthed grassroots talents now playing overseas and in local clubs. This borehole project is another way of giving back to our host communities.”

Chief Ogunmuyiwa expressed his gratitude to Bet9ja Foundation, acknowledging the project’s unexpected but welcomed development. He also requested further assistance in areas such as employment, school infrastructure, and additional community taps.

The borehole installation, featuring a four-tank system with a giant backup tank, ensures a reliable water supply for the community. The Bet9ja Foundation logo prominently displayed on the installation symbolizes the organization’s commitment to community development.
Mr. Adewole Nicholas, Bet9ja Foundation’s Inspection Field Officer, commended Salawu for his integrity and suggested that greater responsibilities may be in store for him. Honourable Kazeem Adele, a representative of Ijede LCDA, emphasized the project’s importance in improving the quality of life for residents.

Chief Oyebanjo Razaq, the Aro of Ijede Land, thanked Bet9ja Foundation for the initiative, expressing hopes for more projects that will benefit the community.
Residents and attendees expressed overwhelming gratitude for the new water source. Mrs. Nwoke, a local resident, praised the clean and sweet water, while Uchenna, a Bet9ja Agent, noted the high spirits of the community. Construction engineer Taiwo Babatunde and worker Ishola Gbadebo shared their satisfaction with the project’s successful completion despite challenges.
