Veteran Nigerian actor, Damilare Olaiya, has criticized his colleagues who supported the Tinubu-led administration, claiming they are now hiding in shame due to the ongoing economic crisis in the country. Speaking during an interview at the #EndBadGovernance protest at Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota, Lagos, Olaiya expressed his willingness to “die if need be” in the fight for a better future for his children and grandchildren.

Olaiya joined the protest to voice his grievances against the federal government, accusing it of poor governance, corruption, and exacerbating the cost of living. He also alleged that the government was responsible for sponsoring the thugs that disrupted the #EndSARS protest in 2020.

“We are saying that bad governance must end. The problems of Nigeria are not intractable. They are human problems, and we can solve them if we end bad governance and bad leaders,” Olaiya stated.

He noted that many of his colleagues who supported the government have now turned off their comment sections on social media to avoid backlash. Olaiya emphasized his long-standing commitment to fighting for Nigeria, stating that he has been involved in activism since his youth and is prepared to sacrifice his life for the future of the nation.

“The life that I have is for Nigeria, for my children’s children, and I am ready to die if need be,” Olaiya declared, underscoring his dedication to the cause.
