Fifty-five suspected internet fraudsters have been arrested by the EFCC in Kwara State, with items including exotic cars and laptops recovered.

[dropcap]O[/dropcap]peratives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested fifty-five suspected internet fraudsters at various locations in Offa, a Local Government Area in Kwara State.

The arrests took place during a sting operation based on credible intelligence regarding their involvement in internet-related offences.

Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson for the anti-graft agency, confirmed that the suspects were apprehended in their hideouts following thorough surveillance.

The operation aimed to crack down on the growing issue of internet fraud, which has seen a significant rise in recent years.

During the raid, EFCC officials recovered several items from the suspects, including nine exotic cars, two motorbikes, laptops, smartphones, and various charms believed to be used in their fraudulent activities.

Following the completion of investigations, the suspects are expected to be charged in court, marking a significant step in the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to combat financial crimes and promote integrity within Nigeria.

The agency continues to urge the public to report any suspicious activities that may be linked to internet fraud, emphasising the importance of collective action in tackling this pervasive issue.
