The Nigeria Police Force arrests five trans-border arms dealers, seizing rifles, ammunition, and fabrication equipment to curb criminal activities.
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of five suspected trans-border arms dealers and the recovery of a cache of weapons and ammunition.
The arrests were carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Bureau Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) on November 18, 2024.

In a statement on Friday, the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, identified the suspects as Adamu Noma, Matthew Audu, Andrew Poyi, Aminu Sani, and Aminu Talha.
Adejobi detailed the significant haul recovered during the operation, which included:
- 10 locally fabricated AK-47 rifles
- 5 Israeli AK-47 rifles
- 1 revolver pistol
- 1 pump-action rifle
- 20 rounds of AK-47 ammunition
- 1 welding machine used for rifle fabrication
“These feats, alongside several others recorded by police operatives across the country, highlight the steadfastness and commitment of the current police leadership to combat criminal activities and enhance national security,” Adejobi stated.
The operation underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to tackling trans-border crimes, arms trafficking, and insecurity.
The leadership has vowed to intensify its efforts in eradicating criminal networks that threaten peace and safety within the country.
This achievement follows a series of successful operations aimed at dismantling arms trafficking syndicates, further boosting public confidence in the police force’s ability to maintain law and order.
