Home-based Super Eagles to discover CHAN 2024 group stage opponents in a draw on January 15, marking their return after six years.

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he home-based Super Eagles are set to discover their group stage opponents for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Wednesday, 15 January.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that the draw ceremony will take place at the Kenyatta International Convention in Nairobi, Kenya.

The tournament, co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, is scheduled to run from 1 to 28 February 2025.

This marks the Home Eagles’ long-awaited return to the biennial championship after a six-year absence.

They secured their spot by defeating perennial rivals Ghana 3-1 on aggregate in the qualifying stage, a result that reignited hope and enthusiasm among Nigerian football fans.

The African Nations Championship, distinct from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), features players who ply their trade exclusively in domestic leagues.

It offers a platform to showcase local talent on the continental stage and fosters competition among Africa’s best homegrown players.

As the draw approaches, anticipation builds for what promises to be a thrilling tournament, with Nigeria aiming to make a strong impression in their comeback campaign.

The Home Eagles’ return adds excitement to the competition, as fans look forward to a potential display of skill and resilience from their national team.

The CHAN 2024 tournament offers not just an opportunity for glory but also a chance for local talents to shine on a bigger stage, contributing to the growth of African football.
