It’s not true! Aide debunks viral video claims of commissioner’s highhandedness

Toke Benson-Awoyinka’s claims of highhandedness in a viral video has been refuted, clarifying it involved an illegal tenant eviction case.

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]n aide, who didn’t want her name mentioned, has refuted allegations of highhandedness following a viral video published by Sahara Reporters regarding Lagos Commissioner for Tourism, Toke Benson-Awoyinka.

The news platform captioned it: WATCH: Power-drunk Lagos State Commissioner For Tourism, Toke Benson Physically Assaults Man Recording Her Harassment and Abuse of Power

The video showed an altercation involving Benson-Awoyinka, Qudus Onikeku, and a group of people, during which the commissioner was heard requesting their removal from the premises.

The video, which sparked public reactions, was captioned to suggest misconduct on the part of the commissioner.

However, sources familiar with the incident clarified that the altercation stemmed from the eviction of an illegal tenant who resisted vacating the premises.

The claims by Sahara Reporters was dismissed as misleading and emphasised her commitment to upholding the rule of law.
