The statement aims to clarify events surrounding the clearance process of Darkoo’s song, which sampled the P-Square hit “Gimme Dat.”
According to ONE Management, Darkoo approached Mr. P for assistance in clearing the sample, citing its popularity on social media platforms like TikTok.
Mr. P reportedly guided her on proper clearance procedures and offered advice based on his experience.
Despite his efforts, Darkoo and her team allegedly pursued clearance through an unauthorised entity, Northside Entertainment, leading to complications.
The controversy escalated when Darkoo released the music video without proper authorisation, prompting ONE Management to request its removal from the video-sharing platform.
The letter details how Darkoo and her team later reached out to ONE Management to resolve the issue, ultimately leading to a proper agreement being executed with all stakeholders.
ONE Management criticised Darkoo’s actions, accusing her of exploiting the situation for clout by making malicious and unfounded claims against Mr. P after the video was reinstated.
They allege she aimed to sensationalise the matter and portray Mr. P in a negative light, despite his consistent efforts to uphold professional standards and guide her appropriately.
