Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago commended the medical team for this breakthrough, describing it as a landmark achievement for the state’s healthcare sector.

In a statement released by his spokesman, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Bago praised the hospital’s progress and emphasised his administration’s dedication to overhauling the state’s healthcare system.

He reiterated his commitment to reducing dependence on foreign medical trips by delivering quality healthcare services locally.

The first brain surgery, led by Consultant Neurosurgeon Dr. Uthman Uthman, treated a 19-year-old male who had sustained a severe brain injury and skull fracture.

The patient is reportedly recovering well in the newly upgraded Amenity Wing of the hospital.

In another groundbreaking procedure, Orthopaedic Surgeons Abdullahi Mohammad and Mustapha Ibrahim performed the hospital’s inaugural total knee replacement surgery.

The operation restored mobility to a 65-year-old woman suffering from advanced bilateral osteoarthritis. She is currently undergoing rehabilitation, including ambulation exercises, in the VIP wing of the facility.

Governor Bago also commended the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Dr. Bala Waziri, and his team for their commitment to excellence. He assured the institution of continued support to further elevate its standards and services.
