Former Ekiti Governor Kayode Fayemi says political rivalries in Nigeria are staged for public entertainment, urging unity beyond party lines
[dropcap]F[/dropcap]ormer Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has claimed that political rivalries in Nigeria are not genuine but are staged to entertain the public.

He made this statement on Sunday during his 60th birthday thanksgiving service at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Isan Ekiti.
Addressing guests who were surprised to see some of his political opponents in attendance, Fayemi emphasised that the supposed conflicts between politicians are largely exaggerated.
He pointed out that despite political differences, figures such as former Governor Segun Oni remain close allies, adding that Governor Ayodele Fayose would have attended the event if he had been available.
“All these things you read on social media are just for your entertainment,” Fayemi stated. “Many will wonder why Segun Oni is present here. I spent the entire day with him during his birthday.”
He further stressed the importance of unity, saying that Ekiti State should not be divided along political lines.
According to him, while politicians may belong to different parties, they ultimately share a common goal under what he termed the Ekiti Progressive Party.

Reflecting on his milestone birthday, Fayemi expressed gratitude, describing himself as “a product of grace” with many reasons to be thankful.
