This endorsement coincided with the official inauguration of the newly upgraded Federal University of Science and Technology, Kabo, formerly the Federal Polytechnic, Kabo in Kano State.

On Tuesday, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin inaugurated the upgraded institution, a development that President Tinubu had personally approved following a request by Jibrin.

Hundreds of APC supporters gathered at the event in Kabo Local Government Area to show their unwavering support for Tinubu’s ambition to serve a second term beyond 2027.

“They believe that the President’s love for the Kano North Senatorial District is enough to secure their votes for his continuation in office beyond 2027,” Jibrin stated, receiving a standing ovation from the crowd.

Jibrin praised President Tinubu for his exceptional commitment to education and infrastructure development in Kano State and the wider Northwest region.

He recounted the ease with which Tinubu approved the upgrade: “We told Mr. President that our priority was the upgrade of the Federal College of Education, Kabo, to a Federal University. He simply said, ‘Bring it, I will sign it.’ And he signed it.”

Further to this, Jibrin revealed that the establishment of another Federal Polytechnic in Kabo was also sanctioned by the President. “We went again, and he signed it,” he added.

Describing the creation of the Federal University of Science and Technology as a monumental gain for Northern Nigeria, Jibrin highlighted the President’s dedication to grassroots development.

“What greater love can a leader show to his people than investing in their future through education?” he asked.

He also commended Tinubu for reversing a controversial decision regarding Yusuf Maitama Sule University, ensuring its federal university status was preserved.

“When the decision was reversed, I approached Mr. President again. I told him this was not fair. Right there, I handed him a proposal, and he approved it on the spot,” said Jibrin.

Alhaji Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Minister of State for Housing, also lauded the administration’s commitment to inclusive development and educational access across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones during the event.

The inauguration was attended by dignitaries from both within Kano State and beyond, marking a significant milestone in the federal government’s support for higher education in the region.
