Dangote Petroleum Refinery will begin nationwide distribution of PMS and diesel with free logistics from August 15, reshaping Nigeria’s energy sector

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n a bold move set to redefine Nigeria’s energy distribution landscape, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced it will commence nationwide distribution of Premium Motor Spirit and diesel from August 15, 2025.

The refinery revealed that all marketers, petrol dealers, manufacturers, telecom firms, aviation operators and other large-scale fuel consumers will benefit from the supply, including free logistics support.

The company described the initiative as a landmark intervention geared towards eliminating transportation bottlenecks, reducing costs and boosting fuel availability across the country.

In preparation for this rollout, the refinery has procured 4,000 brand-new Compressed Natural Gas-powered tankers to ensure a seamless delivery system, while additional CNG booster stations and over 100 support tankers have also been mobilised nationwide.

“This pioneering effort marks a major milestone in our vision to revolutionise Nigeria’s energy sector,” the statement read. “We are dedicated to ensuring equitable access to fuel for all Nigerians, irrespective of location.”

The Dangote Group also announced a flexible credit system under which buyers purchasing 500,000 litres will be eligible for an additional 500,000 litres on credit for two weeks, provided they present a valid bank guarantee.

This facility is expected to ease liquidity concerns among bulk buyers while enhancing nationwide distribution efficiency.

The refinery further assured Nigerians that the new supply programme is aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as a major boost to his government’s economic reforms.

The firm thanked the Federal Government for backing the initiative through mechanisms such as the Naira-for-Crude scheme, which has helped stabilise supplies during global price shocks.

As part of the onboarding process, all stakeholders are expected to complete Know Your Customer registration between June 16 and August 15.

This move comes at a time when economic inflation and rising production costs have strained multiple sectors. The company hopes its intervention will reduce inflationary pressure and strengthen Nigeria’s industrial capacity.
