The startling incident came to light following a neighbour’s tip-off and a shocking X post by Gistme9ja stating the man “confessed to murdering his girlfriend and buried her in a shallow grave inside his room in Delta State”

Police confirmed the suspect’s arrest early on Monday. Investigators are tracing the victim’s identity and determining the motive behind the killing.

The accused reportedly wrote a confession and led officers to the burial site, saying he acted alone.

A senior police official told our correspondent that forensic teams have been deployed to exhume the remains and secure the crime scene.

Initial findings suggest the grave was hastily prepared within the suspect’s residence, underscoring the gravity of the offence.

Local authorities are intensifying efforts to ensure a thorough investigation and swift prosecution. “We will pursue justice fully,” said a spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command.

“The suspect will face murder charges once the post‑mortem is completed.”

Community leaders have condemned the killing, urging law enforcement to ensure transparency. Delta State has seen a rise in domestic violence cases; this incident has reignited demands for better protection for women at risk.
