Thomas Partey’s rape charges include five counts of rape and one sexual assault. The ex Arsenal player is accused of offences involving three women from 2021 to 2022

The former Arsenal midfielder faces five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

According to police, the charges relate to incidents involving three different women. Two counts of rape concern one woman, three counts another, and the sexual assault charge involves a third.

Detectives began their inquiry in February 2022 after receiving an initial report of rape. The Thomas Partey rape charges are the result of a lengthy investigation by specialist officers.

Partey’s legal team confirmed he denies all the allegations. His lawyer said he has fully cooperated with both the police and the Crown Prosecution Service and now looks forward to the opportunity to clear his name.

In a statement, Jenny Wiltshire said, “Thomas Partey denies all the charges against him. He has fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three-year investigation. He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name. Given that there are now ongoing legal proceedings, my client is unable to comment further.”

The Ghanaian international, who played for Arsenal from 2020 to 2024, had his contract end on Monday.

He made 130 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring nine goals. Last season, he featured in 12 Champions League matches and helped the team reach the semi-finals.

Partey is expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 5 August.

Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy said, “Our priority remains providing support to the women who have come forward. We would ask anyone who has been impacted by this case, or anyone who has information, to speak with our team.”

Partey resides in Hertfordshire and has made over 50 appearances for Ghana’s national team, including playing in World Cup qualifiers earlier this year.
