Victor Boniface and AC Milan have opened talks over a summer move, as the Nigerian striker edges closer to a Bundesliga exit after a standout season at Leverkusen

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]talian giants AC Milan have opened discussions with Victor Boniface over a possible summer move, as speculation intensifies around the Nigerian striker’s future.

The 24-year-old forward enjoyed an impressive season with Bayer Leverkusen, scoring 21 goals across all competitions during the 2023–24 campaign.

Despite battling fitness issues, Boniface played a key role in the club’s Bundesliga title win.

According to transfer insider Sacha Tavolieri, initial talks have already taken place between Boniface’s representatives and Milan. He reported that the Nigerian international “has opened the door to a permanent move to the Rossoneri.”

Boniface is no stranger to Milan fans. He netted the winning goal during a Champions League clash against the Serie A side in October 2024, a performance that clearly left a lasting impression.

AC Milan have monitored him ever since, and his name now tops their shortlist of attacking targets.

Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri, along with technical director Igli Tare, are looking to strengthen their frontline with a physically dominant and tactically flexible No. 9. Boniface, who combines strength with intelligent link-up play, fits their vision.

“He’s exactly the type of player who brings presence and unpredictability in the final third,” a source close to Milan said. “The club believes he could thrive in Serie A.”

Boniface was previously linked with a high-profile €60 million move to Al Nassr in January. However, with his valuation now reported to be between €30 and €40 million, Milan believe the transfer is within reach.

Reports from Gazzetta dello Sport also suggest that with Patrick Schick now preferred as the main striker at Leverkusen, a summer exit for Boniface looks increasingly likely.

The Nigerian star’s rise through European football has been marked by steady growth. After spells at Bodø/Glimt in Norway and Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium, he joined Leverkusen and made an immediate impact, becoming a Bundesliga champion in his debut season.

Whether Boniface will swap Germany for Italy remains to be seen, but with Milan making their move early, this could be one of the defining transfers of the summer.
