Yul Edochie urges Tinubu on insecurity

Yul Edochie urges Tinubu on insecurity and inflation, warning the president not to get distracted by 2027 politics while Nigerians suffer in 2025

Popular Nollywood actor and filmmaker Yul Edochie has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to focus on Nigeria’s urgent challenges rather than getting sidetracked by political discussions about the 2027 elections.

Posting on his Instagram page, the actor stressed that the high cost of living and rising insecurity remain the two most critical problems affecting Nigerians today.

“To my dear President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, @officialasiwajubat. Please don’t let politicians distract you with 2027. We’re still in 2025. High cost of living and high rate of insecurity are still ravaging Nigerians. These two remain the most pressing issues to deal with. May God lead you, sir,” Edochie wrote.

The filmmaker, who once declared support for President Tinubu, has increasingly voiced concern over governance in recent times.

He recently appealed for the revival of the cashless policy introduced during the Buhari administration, suggesting it had curbed criminal activity and reduced inflationary pressure.

Edochie’s latest remarks sparked reactions across social media, with some Nigerians applauding his concern and others criticising his past political stance.

High cost of living and high rate of insecurity are still ravaging Nigerians. These two remain the most pressing issues to deal with.

One user wrote, “Best thing you have done this year,” while another commented, “Now you have regained your senses.”

Another said, “Good thoughts but sadly, your dear president will not listen.”

Others took a more sarcastic tone. One user remarked, “Are we not supposed to be relaxing, or you are also tired of relaxing?” in reference to Edochie’s former unwavering support for the administration.

The actor also came under heavy criticism from those who felt he should take responsibility for backing the Tinubu government in the first place.

One comment read, “I do not care about your marital life but about Nigeria. I care about a person who is encouraging this evil government which you are doing.”

Despite the backlash, Edochie’s call has reignited public debate around government priorities.

Many Nigerians continue to battle worsening economic conditions, food inflation, and rising security threats, with calls mounting for urgent policy reforms.
