Illegal dumping in Lagos has once again drawn government attention after a 30-year-old woman named Sarah was arrested this morning for discarding waste on a road median at Iyanaba.

Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, confirmed the arrest via his official X handle, stating that such behaviour directly undermines ongoing efforts to keep Lagos clean and flood-free.
“This reckless act undermines our efforts to maintain a clean and flood-free Lagos,” Wahab said.
“Let this serve as a clear warning: dumping waste on road medians or public spaces is a punishable offense. Offenders will face immediate arrest and prosecution.”
The Commissioner’s response underscores the administration’s zero-tolerance policy on indiscriminate refuse disposal, which remains a key driver in the broader campaign for environmental reform across the state.
