EFCC seized houses linked to Emefiele are not for sale, Housing Ministry warns Nigerians against scams claiming to sell 753 confiscated homes

EFCC seized houses have become the latest subject of controversy after the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development issued a strong warning about fraudulent sales claims.

The ministry’s spokesperson, Badamasi Haiba, clarified that no company, agent, or consultant has been authorized to manage or sell the 753 properties linked to former CBN governor Godwin Emefiele.

According to reports, a private company circulated letters and proposals to individuals and organizations, inviting them to buy “expression of interest” forms for the confiscated houses.

The ministry confirmed it had seen one such letter, signed by a person posing as the company’s chief executive.

Haiba stressed that the official sale of the EFCC seized houses has not commenced. Any legitimate process, he said, will be formally announced in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directives.

The ministry urged Nigerians to be cautious and verify any property sale claims directly with its Public Building and Housing Development Department or Press and Public Relations Department before making financial commitments.

This firm denial is a timely reminder that scams often thrive in high-profile cases.

By making this clarification, the ministry hopes to shield citizens from falling victim to fraudulent schemes exploiting public interest in the Emefiele-linked assets.
