Wike Dismisses Amaechi Presidential Ambition, calling it “dead on arrival” and predicting his ADC platform will not secure him a 2027 ticket
The Wike Dismisses Amaechi Presidential Ambition controversy deepened on Tuesday after the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, declared that his predecessor’s 2027 bid stood “dead on arrival.”

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Wike argued that Rotimi Amaechi lacked the moral credibility to persuade Nigerians he could fight corruption or entrench good governance.
“Amaechi knows he won’t get the ticket,” Wike asserted. “He claimed he understands President Tinubu’s weaknesses, but he also knew them in 2022 when Tinubu defeated him soundly at the APC primary.
Nigerians are not deceived; the last person they will entrust with a presidential ticket is Amaechi.”
Amaechi, who served as Minister of Transportation under former President Muhammadu Buhari, came second to Tinubu during the 2022 All Progressives Congress (APC) primary.
In 2025, he resigned from the APC and defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where he is currently seeking the party’s nomination for the 2027 general election.
But Wike dismissed his chances, insisting that the ADC would not even grant Amaechi its ticket. “His new platform gives him no advantage,” the FCT Minister said.
The two men have a long and bitter political rivalry rooted in Rivers State politics. Amaechi governed the state from 2007 to 2015, after which Wike succeeded him.
Their feud has since spilled over to the national stage, with Wike now serving in Tinubu’s cabinet and Amaechi positioning himself in opposition.

According to Wike, Nigerians have already made up their minds about Amaechi’s credibility, leaving his 2027 ambition without a real path forward.
