Gbenga Daniel receives support from APC youth group accusing Governor Abiodun of targeting the former governor for political reasons

Former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel is at the center of growing political tension as the youth wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of leading a calculated effort to push him out of the party.

In a statement issued in Abeokuta, the APC Youth Wing alleged that the governor is behind multiple actions aimed at undermining Daniel, including threats to demolish his properties, a rumored suspension plan, and deliberate attempts to damage his image before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“The real agenda is to stop Daniel from contesting for Ogun East Senate by painting him as untrustworthy,” the group stated.

“But history is clear—while Gbenga Daniel was fighting for democracy, Dapo Abiodun was mingling with those who opposed the June 12 struggle.”

The youth group insisted that Daniel remains a strong voice within the progressive movement, warning that removing him would weaken the party’s foundation in Ogun State.

They also alleged that the governor is sponsoring hired protests and possibly planning attacks on Daniel’s properties, calling on security agencies to take swift action to prevent any escalation of violence.

“We will not allow any attempt to silence or isolate him. Gbenga Daniel is a key figure in this state’s political evolution and deserves respect, not persecution.”

The group further challenged the governor to focus on governance and properly utilize the state’s ₦1 trillion budget for development rather than engaging in political schemes.

As the conflict intensifies, stakeholders within the APC are watching closely, with many concerned that the internal strife could impact party unity and electoral prospects in Ogun State.
