Peter Obi is expected to announce soon which party he will contest the 2027 general elections through, says Obidient Movement coordinator Yunusa Tanko

Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, has stated that former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi will soon disclose the political party he will use to contest the 2027 general elections.

Tanko made the remarks during an interview on ‘Prime Time’, a programme broadcast on Arise Television, stressing that Obi would make the announcement personally.

“A lot of people are waiting for Peter Obi to make a decision on which party he will be contesting through. That means he is wanted in Nigeria and even around the world. So, we will let Obi let the cat out of the bag by himself,” Tanko said.

He added that Obi is collaborating closely with a coalition that has produced a political party.

“He has been part of it. He has contributed to it. Whenever he wants to make his own pronouncement, it is going to be something that everybody will be glad and happy about because he is a team player,” Tanko said.

Tanko further highlighted Obi’s commitment to national welfare, describing him as a leader who seeks to ensure Nigeria’s freedom and address challenges caused by leaders with poor intentions.

The announcement is widely anticipated by political observers, who view Obi’s decision as a significant factor in shaping the dynamics of the 2027 general elections.
