According to findings by security personnel at the scene, the crash involved a laden truck (Reg. No. EKY 121 YJ) and a commercial Mazda bus (Reg. No. LND 490 SD).
The bus was reportedly driving recklessly while attempting to claim right of way from the Agric axis before the collision occurred.
“One passenger, who was seated dangerously at the bus doorway, was thrown off and crushed by the rear tires of the truck, resulting in instant death,” Bakare-Oki said.
Emergency services responded promptly. LASAMBUS personnel rushed the two injured passengers—a male and a female—to Ikorodu General Hospital for urgent medical care.
The deceased’s remains were later handed over to their family by officers of the Nigeria Police Force, who, along with personnel from the Owutu Police Division, provided security support during rescue operations.
To restore traffic flow, LASTMA operatives cleared both the truck and the Mazda bus from the scene.
Bakare-Oki extended condolences to the victim’s family and emphasized the need for motorists to exercise restraint and responsibility on Lagos roads.
“We urge all drivers to show caution and civic duty, especially on congested routes like the Ikorodu corridor,” he added.
