Dangote dismisses monopoly claims as his group rolls out 4,000 CNG trucks in Lagos, creating 24,000 jobs and boosting Nigeria’s fuel distribution

The President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, made the remarks on Monday in Lagos during the rollout of 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks from his refinery.

He disclosed that the company had committed ₦2 trillion to trucks and logistics to strengthen supply chains and ease transportation nationwide.

“We are not here to take anyone out of the market. The trucks we are deploying have already created 24,000 jobs, with salaries four times the minimum wage,” Dangote said.

He added that the company has purchased 10,000 trucks, including CNG and dry cargo carriers, with a target of 10,250 CNG trucks in operation by the end of November.

Plans are also underway to introduce electric vehicles in January 2026 as part of its transition strategy.

Dangote underscored that the move was about progress and resilience: “Our aim is to modernise, generate jobs every day, and make life easier for Nigerians. We are not going to be distracted by the noise of unions.”

The billionaire also highlighted Nigeria’s growing fertiliser output as “a big celebration for Nigeria,” while revealing that the group currently lifts 40,000 tonnes of diesel monthly and has exported over 1.6 billion litres of fuel.

Meanwhile, Dangote Refinery confirmed that the new CNG trucks had begun loading petroleum products at the facility for direct nationwide distribution.

This, the company said, marked the official commencement of its fuel distribution programme, strengthening Nigeria’s energy infrastructure.
