A single mother has publicly mourned the loss of her 13-year-old daughter, who died while staying with her father during the just-concluded school holiday.

According to the distraught woman, she had sent her daughter to visit her estranged partner commonly referred to as the baby daddy during the break.

But when the new school term began and she requested the girl’s return, she was met with a chilling revelation.

To her utter shock, she was informed that her daughter had fallen ill, passed away, and was already buried in Delta State all without her knowledge or consent.

Struggling to contain her grief, the mother shared her story online, sparking outrage and sympathy from Nigerians who questioned how a child could be buried without the involvement of her legal guardian.

The circumstances surrounding the girl’s illness, death, and subsequent burial remain unclear.

Many have called for an immediate investigation to determine whether any foul play was involved or if due process was followed in handling the child’s demise.

This incident has also reignited public conversations about parental rights, the role of consent in child custody situations, and the lack of systems to protect minors in co-parenting disputes.

As the mother cries out over her daughter’s death, legal experts and child advocacy groups are urging authorities to intervene and ensure that justice is served if not for the mother, then at least for the young girl whose voice was never heard.
