ADC accuses APC, police of disrupting Mushin LGA meeting

ADC Mushin LGA meeting disruption blamed on APC thugs and police. Venue sealed off despite booking, sparking fresh concerns over pre-election intimidation

ADC Mushin LGA meeting disruption claims have sparked outrage after the African Democratic Congress (ADC) accused APC thugs and the Nigeria Police of sealing off a venue it had booked for a local party meeting in Mushin, Lagos, on Thursday, 9th October 2025.

The ADC said the venue, which had been booked and paid for two weeks in advance, was suddenly made unavailable just hours before the scheduled meeting.

Party officials were shocked to find police vans stationed outside the gate, while a group of alleged APC thugs** occupied the premises, dancing to loud music.

“When we contacted the facility management, they claimed the space was no longer available due to a naming ceremony,” an ADC source said. “But when we arrived, it was clear the so-called ceremony was just a decoy.”

The ADC leadership in Mushin Local Government Area condemned the act, describing it as a blatant attempt to suppress democratic engagement.

The party said this form of intimidation and political thuggery reflects a deep fear of voter backlash and a loss of public confidence in the ruling party.

Referencing the words of the Oba of Benin, who recently said, *”If you do well by the people, you will have no fear of the people’s vote,” the ADC said the APC’s actions amount to an admission of failure.

“This is their own indictment. Violence and intimidation are the last refuge of incompetence,” the statement read.

The party has vowed to petition electoral and security authorities, citing the disruption as part of a wider pattern of harassment in the lead-up to the 2025 general elections.

No response has yet been issued by the APC in Lagos State or the Nigeria Police as of the time of filing this report.
