Mudashiru Obasa supports APC members, assuring continuous backing and fair rewards ahead of the 2027 general elections in Lagos
Mudashiru Obasa, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has assured All Progressives Congress (APC) members of continued leadership support ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking at the maiden Lagos State APC Stakeholders Forum held on Tuesday, October 21, at the Eko Hotel and Suites Convention Centre, Obasa reaffirmed the commitment of the party’s leadership to stand firmly by its members, especially those working tirelessly to mobilise votes for the All Progressives Congress.
The Speaker’s remarks struck a hopeful tone among the large gathering of ministers, senators, federal and state lawmakers, royal fathers, local government chairmen, and representatives of various associations.
Obasa addressed a long-standing concern within the party about recognition and reward for loyal members who labour for the APC’s electoral success.
He assured that the leadership would ensure fairness and inclusivity.
“We will continue to support you so that you will be motivated to keep working for the success of the party at all levels,” he said.
The Lagos Speaker also aligned himself with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s motion calling for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, urging party members to remain united and active.
In a related contribution, former Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, who delivered a paper on “Voter Apathy and the Sanctity of Election in Nigeria’s Budding Democracy,” highlighted that an ineffective reward system discourages participation and enthusiasm in party politics.
“Political party participation is based on enthusiasm. Therefore, to avoid voter apathy, we must interrogate the reward system for our members,” Fashola said, calling for internal reforms to boost member motivation and trust.
Fashola also commended the Lagos APC for convening the forum and advised that such gatherings be replicated nationwide to strengthen party engagement and democracy.
Earlier, the Lagos APC Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, expressed gratitude to Lagosians for their support during the last local government elections.
He also assured those who lost at the polls that the party would refund their nomination form fees, a promise he said was made by President Tinubu.
