Greenbirch Limited accused of intimidation in Lekki property dispute

Greenbirch property dispute deepens as Lekki tenants accuse the firm of intimidation, theft, and harassment in Okoya-linked property row

Greenbirch property dispute in Lekki has taken a dramatic turn as residents of 16 three-bedroom apartments at 96B, Ladipo Omotesho Cole Street, accused Greenbirch Limited of unlawful entry, intimidation, and harassment despite a subsisting court judgment against the company.

The sub-tenants alleged that the apartments, which they initially rented from Greenbirch, actually belong to RAO Investment Property Company Limited, owned by industrialist Chief Razak Okoya CON and his wife, Chief Mrs. Shade Okoya MON.

According to them, Greenbirch’s management, led by Mr. Lawrence Uwaoma Onwukwem, Mr. Davies Isaiah Ijele, and others, has continued to unleash threats and disruptions even after losing legal control of the property.

Mr. Odera Emeka Eke, who rented two units in 2021, said he invested heavily in renovations, replacing sanitary wares, light fittings, and ceilings.

“Greenbirch took custody of the old materials and promised to reimburse us for new electricity meters, but they never did,” he said.

The tenants further alleged that Greenbirch deceived them about a ₦20 million electricity debt owed to EKEDC, claiming it was due to water plant consumption.

They later discovered the bill resulted from an illegal power bypass allegedly carried out by Greenbirch, which led to penalties and arrears.

After RAO Investment secured a court judgment terminating Greenbirch’s tenancy, tenants believed relief had come.

Instead, they accused the company of retaliating by cutting power and water supplies and deploying armed men to the premises. “We had to petition the AIG, Zone 2, over the threats and illegal activities,” Eke said.

Another tenant, Mr. Olusola Alabi, and his wife alleged that Greenbirch broke into their apartment, stole items worth over ₦23 million, and re-let the space.

Police investigations by the X-Squad and FID Abuja reportedly confirmed Greenbirch’s culpability. “Despite multiple petitions, some officers have delayed prosecution,” the couple claimed.

One staff member, Ms. Peace Chidinma Igbo, has been charged for failing to produce a colleague she stood surety for and was remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Facility before being granted bail.

The case continues at the Oyingbo Magistrate Court under Charge No: BG/K/23/25/2025.

The Okoya family has publicly dismissed rumours linking Senator Domingo Obende to the property, calling such claims baseless and malicious.

They warned the public not to transact with Greenbirch’s agents, describing them as individuals “with no legal authority or fixed address.”
