Super Eagles vs Egypt friendly confirmed for December in Cairo as both sides prepare for the 2025 AFCON

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced that the high-profile clash was arranged at the request of Egypt’s head coach, Hossam Hassan, who wants to assess his squad against one of Africa’s strongest sides before the continental tournament.

Egypt will also feature in the UAE International Tournament, where they are set to face Uzbekistan on 14 November, while Cape Verde and Iran meet a day earlier.

The winners of both matches will contest the final on 18 November.

Before their encounter with Egypt, Nigeria will take part in the 2026 FIFA World Cup African playoffs in Morocco.

The Super Eagles face Gabon on 13 November, and a win would set up a meeting with either Cameroon or DR Congo on 16 November.

The December fixture in Cairo is expected to serve as a vital test for both teams’ tactical readiness and squad depth ahead of AFCON 2025.
