Governor Soludo’s administration has built five new hospitals and rehabilitated over 130 healthcare facilities across Anambra State.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, says Governor Chukwuma Soludo has transformed the state’s health sector by constructing five new general hospitals and rehabilitating over 130 healthcare facilities within three years.

Obidike disclosed this on Thursday during a media tour of newly built and renovated hospitals, including the Solution Trauma Centre, Awka, aimed at showcasing the government’s achievements and dispelling misinformation about its performance.

The commissioner listed the new hospitals as:

  • Okpoko General Hospital, Ogbaru LGA
  • Solution Specialist Hospital, Fegge, Onitsha South LGA
  • Solution Rehabilitation Centre, Nibo, Awka South LGA
  • Ekwulobia General Hospital, Aguata LGA
  • Solution General Hospital, Anaku, Ayamelum LGA

He added that the administration had also rehabilitated major facilities such as Umueri General Hospital, Enugwu-Ukwu General Hospital, and the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Awka.

“These efforts ensure that residents can access quality healthcare regardless of financial status,” Obidike said.
“Governor Soludo’s vision is to make Anambra the safest, healthiest, and most liveable state in Nigeria — a legacy for future generations.”

The commissioner revealed that all new and renovated hospitals are equipped with solar power, water supply, and 30kV generators, offering free antenatal care, childbirth, and surgeries under the state’s social health scheme.

He further disclosed that the state has 40 functional ambulance stations, 1,500 newly recruited health workers, and a digitalised telemedicine system linking hospitals across the state.

“We want Ndi-Anambra to see what their taxes are doing,” he said. “This is not about re-election politics but about building a healthier future.”

Obidike also said the Solution Trauma Centre, Awka, and Solution Specialist Hospital, Fegge, were nearing completion and would soon be commissioned.

The commissioner stated that Soludo’s long-term goal is to make Anambra a medical destination comparable to India within five years, citing the ongoing rehabilitation of the Nibo Rehabilitation Centre and Anambra Eye Care Centre, Nise, which now meet world-class standards.

Meanwhile, Paul Nwauba, President-General of Anaku community, commended the governor for the operational Anaku General Hospital, debunking rumours that it was inactive.
