Catch Them Young Environmental Convention inspires over 1,500 Lagos students towards sustainability and a cleaner, greener city future

Catch Them Young Environmental Convention is set to ignite fresh enthusiasm for sustainability among Lagos youth as more than 1,500 public secondary school students prepare to attend the second edition of the landmark event on Tuesday, 11 November 2025.

Organised by Aurora International Charity Foundation (AICF) in partnership with the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), the one-day gathering will serve as a powerful platform for innovation, advocacy, and environmental stewardship.

According to Ambassador Tomi Salami, President of AICF, this year’s convention themed “Our Lagos, Our Future: Inspiring Young Minds for Sustainable Change” is a bold call to action aimed at shaping a generation of environmentally conscious young leaders.

“Lagos is not just a place we live in; it’s a legacy we are all responsible for. To truly protect our future, we must start by educating those who will inherit it,” Salami affirmed.

With Lagos undergoing rapid urbanisation and increasing environmental stress, both AICF and LASEPA are committed to advancing environmental education as a foundation for long-term behavioural change.

The convention will feature keynote sessions, eco-challenges, interactive panels, awards, climate education engagements and storytelling from role models driving environmental impact across Nigeria.

The Catch Them Young Environmental Convention also seeks to nurture leadership, innovation and community advocacy among young Lagosians who will one day define sustainable policies and business models.

Ambassador Salami, a former beauty queen and social entrepreneur, has spent years championing clean energy, climate action and environmental protection through AICF.

Her foundation has impacted more than 30,000 Nigerians adults, youths and children through education, empowerment, health and welfare initiatives.

Building on the success of the 2024 debut edition, which brought together nearly 1,000 students in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, this year’s event promises to amplify youth engagement in sustainability with a renewed spirit of hope and responsibility.
