Burna Boy dominates 2026 Grammy nominations, leading a powerful wave of Nigerian and African talent recognised by the Recording Academy for next year’s awards.

The Grammy-winning star earned two major nods—Best African Music Performance for his song “Love” and Best Global Music Album for No Sign of Weakness—solidifying his position as Africa’s most celebrated artist on the global stage.
Announcing the nominations, the Recording Academy unveiled an impressive list for the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, set for 1 February 2026 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
The event will celebrate music released between August 2024 and August 2025.
In what marks another historic moment for African music, Nigeria’s Davido, Ayra Starr, Wizkid and Omah Lay also earned nominations in the Best African Music Performance category.
Their inclusion reflects the continent’s growing influence on mainstream global sound.
Davido’s collaboration with Omah Lay, “With You,” competes in the same category, while Ayra Starr’s joint track with Wizkid, “Gimme Dat,” has been hailed as a strong contender.
Reacting to the announcement, music analysts praised Burna Boy’s continued excellence and called the nominations a “testament to Afrobeat’s unstoppable rise.”
“This recognition shows that Nigerian music is no longer peripheral—it’s central to the global music economy,” said British-Nigerian critic Femi Ogundele.
The 2026 Grammy lineup also features American heavyweights Kendrick Lamar and Lady Gaga leading with nine and seven nominations respectively, while new categories—Best Traditional Country Album and Best Album Cover—have been added.
